Every so often there's an article or a news report about how the United States Postal Service is losing money. There is really no great mystery why this is happening - at least not to people like myself who are sending packages all over the country every week.
Let's see:
January: Lost a package containing two CDs on its way to Texas, never to be seen again.
February: demolished an envelope containing five CDs and accompanying presskits, so that only ONE cd actually made it to its destination. When a "lost mail" claim form was requested by the intended recipient, she was told that the office didn't have any. Then, a phone call to a postmaster resulted in the statement "You didn't insure the package, so nothing can be done." Wait, wait, wait. I PAID you to deliver a package from point A to point B. But you're telling me that if I don't ‘insure' said package, you're not responsible for it? So basically I couldn't handed the envelope and money for postage to a local skateboarder an had as much chance as delivery???
March: USPS delivers a CD to California - broken in half. I'm sure they'll take no responsibility for that either.
